Background
Buddha’s quote emphasizes how essential self-love is. We often overlook our own needs and worth, but self-love is foundational to loving others authentically.
It is more a paraphrase than a documented quote and reflects the essence of Buddhist teachings on self-acceptance and compassion.
Today’s Exercise
Take pen and paper, find a quiet place and write down three things you love about yourself.
Throughout the day focus on these qualities, especially at times when feelings of self-doubt arise.
About the Author
Buddha, specifically Siddhartha Gautama, who founded Buddhism in the 5th to 4th century BCE was a spiritual leader and philosopher.
Buddha is known for his teachings on the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, which provide a framework for overcoming suffering and attaining enlightenment.

In our philosophical Advent Calendar, you’ll find delightful gifts for Christmas (and really for the whole of the year) that won’t cost you a cent!

Impossible? Not at all! Our calendar is free and brings you a daily philosophical insight with an image and a short exercise. The first and overarching exercise, of course, is patience—only one door per day!
Each image contains one or more hidden letters. When correctly arranged, they will form a meaningful phrase in our puzzle rally at the end. More details will follow as Advent progresses.
Feel free to leave comments with suggestions or share your personal experiences with the exercises. The most productive contributions will be published. Write directly in the comments below or contact us via email at admin@yourpaceyourplace.com.
Our calendar is a small pilot project for an 52 week philosophical calendar. If you like this idea, sign up for our mailing list, and we’ll keep you informed.
Share the calendar with your friends (and enemies—everyone can benefit from it 😁).
Have fun!
